Pollen is the basic food of honey bees, especially in their stages of development, but in adults it is their exclusive protein diet. Its taste is usually bitter but according to which plants they come from it may be sweet. It is the richest plant food in proteins, vitamins and essential amino acids.

Man uses it as a dietary supplement since it is rich in protein, carbohydrates and vitamins. One study found that pollen contains small amounts of routine that increases the resistance of capillaries and protects the body from cerebral haemorrhage and reduces blood clotting time. One tablespoon of pollen (15 grams) covers the needs of a human average protein, vitamins and trace elements.

Vitamins: Thiamine, Riboflavin, Pantothenic Acid, Pyridoxine, Folic Acid, Biotin, Vitamin C, Vitamin E. Mineral Salts: Potassium, Phosphorus, Flowers, Magnesium, Iron, Copper, Zinarrhir, Manganese. These are the main minerals of pollen, but there are certainly others in a smaller amount. The composition of pollen depends on the plant but also on the composition of the soil.

Amino acids: Arginine, Histidine, Leucine, Lysine, Methionine, Phenylalanine, Threonine, Tryptophan, Valine, Glutamic Acid. The collection of pollen is done with the grid traps placed in the opening at the entrance of the hive.
